Nicholas C. Bambakidis, MD
Neurosurgeon
Dr. Bambakidis received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, graduating with honors. He stayed at Case Western to complete his residency in Neurological Surgery at University Hospitals of Cleveland and Metrohealth Medical Center. During residency, Dr. Bambakidis completed extensive training in the treatment of aneurysms and carotid artery disease as well as primary and metastatic tumors of the brain, pituitary gland, and skull base.
Following residency, Dr. Bambakidis completed Fellowship training with Dr. Volker Sonntag at Barrow Neurological Institute, focusing on the treatment of complex spinal disorders. He currently serves on the neurosurgical staff as an attending at Barrow and has written extensively on diseases of the spine and skull base. He has actively pursued cutting edge research on the ability of the central nervous system to recover after injury and is the author of several basic science papers on this subject. He has also received a prestigious research award from the North American Spine Society.
Dr. Bambakidis is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of the Neurological Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, and the North American Skull Base Society.
