Thomas M. Hamm, PhD
Principal Investigator, Spinal Motor Systems Laboratory
Dr. Hamm is a research scientist in the Division of Neurobiology at Barrow Neurological Institute. His laboratory conducts basic research on the function and organization of spinal neurons involved in the generation and control of movement. The long-term goals of this research are to identify the critical properties of spinal neurons and their interactions required for coordinated movement and to apply this knowledge to the development of interventions that will accelerate and enhance recovery from disease and injuries of the brain and spinal cord.
Dr. Hamm received a BS in mathematics and physics from Memphis State University and a PhD in Physiology from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences in Memphis. He holds an adjunct appointment to the faculty of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Arizona State University. Dr. Hamm also actively participates in graduate education and service to the academic community and public.
