Andrew G. Shetter, MD

Chairman, Section of Functional and Stereotactic Neurosurgery
Co-Director, Gamma Knife Center

Dr. Shetter completed his neurosurgery residency at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix and spent two years as a Clinical and Research Fellow in Neurological Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Dr. Shetter's specialties include Gamma Knife radiosurgery, stereotactic surgery, surgery for Parkinson's disease (i.e., thalamotomy, pallidotomy, deep brain stimulators), epilepsy surgery, surgery for brain tumor and acoustic neuromas, spinal cord surgery, spinal cord stimulators, drug infusion pumps for spasticity, and several different procedures for trigeminal neuralgia, among others. 

He is board certified by both the American Board of Neurological Surgery and the American Board of Pain Medicine. Dr. Shetter is Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, and is Co-Director of the Gamma Knife Center at Barrow. He has been involved with stereotactic neurosurgery at Barrow since 1987 and has performed more than 1,000 Gamma Knife procedures. Dr. Shetter is also trained in the use of the CyberKnife.
