Jon Valla, PhD
Principal Investigator/Director, Cognitive Neurometabolism Laboratory

Dr. Valla is an assistant staff scientist in the Division of Neurology at Barrow.  He studies brain energy metabolism in Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative conditions.   Dr. Valla received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Minnesota State University at Mankato, where he graduated magna cum laude.  He received his PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Texas at Austin. 

Dr. Valla is on a number of advisory boards and review committees, including ad hoc reviewer for the Alzheimer's Association and member of the Internal Scientific Advisory Committee of the Arizona Alzheimer's Disease Consortium.  He is a member of the Society for Neuroscience, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Mitochondria Research Society, and the New York Academy of Sciences.
