Carolynne Garrision, PhD

Child Psychologist

Dr. Garrison serves on the Barrow Children's Cleft and Craniofacial team as its consultant Child Psychologist. Originally from Los Angeles, California, Dr. Garrison has an extensive background in child psychology. 

In 1978, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and graduated Magna Cum Laude, Distinction in Psychology. She then attended Arizona State University where she received her Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Clinical Psychology in 1982 and 1986, respectively. 

She completed her internship at the University of New Mexico Medical School, Department of Psychiatry, and has been board certified since 1987 by the Arizona State Board of Psychologist Examiners. Dr. Garrison has received many honors, including the American Psychological Association Minority Fellowship, the Kellogg Leadership Program Fellow Minority Women in Mental Health, and the Outstanding Ethnic Women Alumna Award Association from Arizona State University.

Since 1988, Dr. Garrison's professional expertise has been applied as part of the medical staff of St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center and of the Children's Rehabilitative Services. She plays roles of leadership as both a clinician and a researcher. She serves as Director of Psychology Services at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center and Children's Rehabilitative Services, as Supervising Clinical Psychologist at ASU Clinical Psychology Center, and as Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Psychology at ASU. 

Dr. Garrison has published and presented articles in numerous national settings, including those on minority and cultural perspectives and social relationship factors associated with clinical depression in adolescence. Since 1991, she has also run a successful private practice as a Clinical Psychologist in Phoenix.
