Craniofacial Plastic Surgeon
Dr. Davinder J. Singh is a craniofacial plastic surgeon at the Barrow Children's Cleft and Craniofacial Center. She specializes in craniofacial surgery of infancy and childhood, including congenital craniofacial anomalies, pediatric vascular anomalies, facial nerve injury, and pediatric facial trauma.
Dr. Singh received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, and her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, New York. She received her postgraduate training in general surgery from Columbia University and in plastic surgery from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed a craniofacial fellowship at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Singh is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the National Board of Medical Examiners. She has held hospital appointments including Attending Surgeon at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Philadelphia Medical Center, and several academic positions including Assistant Professor of Surgery at University of Philadelphia School of Medicine.
Dr. Singh has received many awards, honors, and memberships in honorary societies, including the W.R. Hearst Foundation U.S. Senate Scholarship, the DAAD Fellowship for study at the Goethe Institute in Germany, and grant awards for the development of a Craniofacial Database.
Dr. Singh's research relates to the management of congenital and traumatic injuries to the face and skull. She has been invited to lecture on prevention and correction of post-traumatic deformities of the craniofacial skeleton, secondary correction of iatrogenic and post-traumatic cranial vault deformities, growth and development considerations in pediatric craniofacial fractures, and indications and technique for craniomaxillofacial surgery for distraction osteogenesis.
Her peer-reviewed research publications include studies on congenital mandibular hypoplasia analysis and classification, midface growth in patients with the EEC syndrome, nasal reconstruction, pediatric craniofacial fractures, and nonsyostotic occipital plagiocephaly. Her research interests include squamosal synostosis, development of a multidisciplinary computerized craniofacial database, optimal timing of mandibular distraction for hemifacial microsomia, late onset craniosynostosis, and multisuture synostosis. She has presented abstracts and papers at numerous international, national, and regional meetings.
Dr. Singh is a member of American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, International Society of Craniofacial Surgeons, American Society of Craniofacial Surgeons, and American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, and is a faculty member of the AO-North American Craniomaxillofacial Organization. She serves on national, regional, and local scientific committees, including the International Outreach Committee of the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association and the Craniomaxillofacial Subcommittee of the Plastic Surgery Education Foundation, National Board of Medical Examiners. She also reviews manuscripts submitted for publication in the Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Journal.
