Presentations in Schools
ThinkFirst for Teens and Young Adults, an award-winning national program, teaches students to use their minds to protect their bodies from serious injury.
School presentations include the following:
- A discussion of the anatomy of the brain and spinal cord, how injuries to these parts of the body occur, the physical results of injury, and how many of these injuries can be prevented. The presentation stresses that teens are the highest risk group for these injuries.
- A video features honest and direct testimony from teens about the narrow margin that can separate fun from tragedy.
- A young person who has sustained a brain or spinal cord injury also talks to students describing how his or her life has changed since injury. Students learn that these injuries can and do happen when people just like them engage in typical teenage activities.
