Barrow Craniofacial Symposium: What’s in a Name? DiGeorge/VCF/22q11.2: A Medical and Psychosocial Overview

An interdisciplinary overview of the pediatric patient with DiGeorge/VCF syndrome.
Under the guidance of a neurological specialist, physicians will learn the diagnostic indicators for variousmovement disorders, such as Parkinson’s Disease, as well as the indicators for when a headache isn’t a headache and the appropriate course of treatment.
This course will provide physicians with new information on drugs and treatment for pediatric epilepsy, spinal treatment for children, and neurological disorders such as headaches and neurocutaneous diseases.
Physicians will gain an understanding of the new developments in using stem cells for brain repair after stroke, treatment of stroke, and the latest in atrial fibrillation and acute stroke treatment.

The focus will highlight communicating with cognitively impaired patients, advances in the treatment of traumatic brain injury and being “present” at the bedside during patient/family grieving.

The course will define excellence in the neurosciences, including research, clinical practice, and patient care.
Next year’s Symposium will take on a slightly different look.
On March 11-12, didactic sessions will run in the morning from 8:00 am – 12:30 pm. In the afternoons, attendees will have the option of signing up for a NeuroEndoscopy hands-on skill course, or viewing a live surgery.
