Ms. Varland serves as coordinator for the Acoustic Neuroma Program, the Hypothalamic Hamartoma Program, the Skull Base Team, and the Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus Program. Through collaboration with others she serves as program developer, conference facilitator, patient liaison and educator, and clinical coordinator for patients, physicians, and other team members.
Ms. Varland, originally from Dublin, Ireland, has been a resident of Arizona for the better part of her adult life. She holds degrees in both nursing and business management. She has been Program Coordinator for Neurosciences at Barrow since December 2002. Before assuming her current position, she worked as a surgical nurse in the neurological operating room for approximately fifteen years; during the last three of those years she served as clinical supervisor. Ms. Varland has been recognized for many of her accomplishments over the years, including receiving BNI Nurse of the Year in 2002.
