Barrow Neurological Institute sponsors and participates in a variety of community events to

  • promote awareness and prevention of neurological disorders and injuries
  • provide specialized activities for individuals with neurological impairments
  • recognize achievements of individuals affected by neurological injury or disease
  • provide opportunities for the community to support programs and services for patients with brain and spinal cord disorders

Day on the Lake


Friday and Saturday, May 30 and 31, 2008
8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Day on the Lake, a Barrow Neurological Institute-sponsored event, gives individuals with neurological impairments the chance to participate in free water skiing, jet skiing, fishing, kayaking, and boat rides at Bartlett Lake.

Pre-Registration

Registration is limited. Participants must be at least 8 years old and are responsible for their own food, refreshments, towels, and sun block. If you plan to participate, please bring swimwear, sun protective clothing, sunglasses, and a hat.

Registration and Waivers

After you have sent in your pre-registration form, please print out the registration and waiver forms (see the links below) that are most applicable to you, and bring them completed to the Day on the Lake Event!

Family members attending must also fill out waivers.

Wheelchair Rugby

Wheelchair Sports and Adapted Recreation Expo

  

Barrow Rehabilitation and Mesa Sports for the Disabled hosts an annual Wheelchair Sports and Adaptive Recreation Clinic. This free clinic provides instruction and demonstrations for quad rugby, wheelchair hockey, football and basketball, bicycling, road racing, power soccer, golf, tennis, over-the-line, archery, scuba diving, sled hockey, rowing, kayaking, water and snow skiing, traveling, and the arts. Introduction to modified off-road and all-terrain vehicles and various Arizona community services is available. A class in advanced wheelchair skills class is also offered.

Representatives are available to provide information about adapted vans, modified recreation vehicles/boats, ATVs, motorcycles, Sea-Doos (jet skis), SunRise Ski Resort, America West Airlines (for questions about air travel), adapted saddles, Horses Help, scuba diving, kayaking, river rampage, and City of Phoenix and City of Mesa programs.

The expo takes place each year in December. Lunch is available for $5.00 (BBQ hamburger and drink). Call Barrow for more information: 602-406-3606.
