About the Center
CyberKnife, the latest in radiosurgical
treatments, has been used successfully to treat more than 20,000
patients worldwide with lesions located in such areas as the brain,
spine, lung, and pancreas.
This advanced technology uses image-guided
robotics to deliver surgically precise radiation to destroy
intracranial and extracranial lesions such as spinal and soft
tissue tumors without the need for open surgery. This
noninvasive surgical alternative is appropriate to treat targets
throughout the body. CyberKnife enables access to previously
unreachable tumors and is suited for many patients otherwise
diagnosed as inoperable.
The Barrow Radiosurgery Center is the only
facility in the Southwest with this revolutionary technology.
CyberKnife features include the
following:
-
Image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT)
-
Precise locating of tumors
-
