Role of Neuroanesthesiology in Hypothalamic Hamartoma Treatment
Anesthesiologists with specialized training in the care of patients with neurological disorders provide full-time anesthesia services for the operating room at Barrow Neurological Institute. They support the clinical management of more than 4,000 surgical procedures a year.
Neuroanesthesiologists assess patients before surgery to ensure their optimal care during the procedure. These physicians specialize in anesthetic management of adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgery for all types of neurological diseases and injuries.
The neuroanesthesiologists work closely with the Post Anesthesia Care Unit staff and the Neurological Intensive Care Unit staff to manage pain and medical issues for patients during the immediate postoperative period. They also provide anesthesia care for patients undergoing diagnostic testing and interventional neuroradiology procedures as required.
