Marwan Maalouf, MD, PhD
Geriatric and Behavioral Neurologist
Dr. Marwan Maalouf is a geriatric and behavioral neurologist. He is especially interested in how diet and exercise affect brain aging and the course of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. He received his MD and PhD degrees from the Université de Montréal and he completed his neurology residency at the University of California - Irvine (UCI).
Subsequently, he completed fellowships in aging and dementia at UCI and in Neuroscience at the University of California - Los Angeles and here at Barrow. His interests include disorders of balance and gait in the elderly, dementia associated with Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease. He also directs a laboratory that investigates ways to preserve energy metabolism in nerve cells and prevent brain deterioration.
