Transcranial Doppler

Transcranial Doppler ultrasonography
indicating stenosis in the basilar artery.

Transcranial Doppler ultrasonography uses sound waves to measure blood flow through arteries in the brain.  A smooth probe is gently moved over the scalp to detect any narrowing or vasospasm of the arteries in the brain, especially arteries located near an aneurysm.  The test is painless and does not use needles, dye, or x-rays.
