This exercise class is based on the book Parkinson's Disease and the Art of Moving, by John Argue. Mr. Argue has worked with people who have Parkinson's disease for over 20 years. Drawing on his training and experience in teaching theater, voice, yoga, and tai chi, he developed a series of 10 lesson plans that focus specifically on PD symptoms.
The exercises are designed to help you anticipate, prevent, and delay symptoms. They are targeted at the symptoms that you likely frequently experience, like tremor, rigidity, uncertain balance, slowness, and incomplete range of movement. The exercises also help with the associated symptoms such as freezing, masked facial expression, swallowing problems, loss of voice power and speech difficulties. Since you cannot predict which symptoms will come to you, it is better to prepare your body to cope with as wide a range of symptoms as possible.

Most of the Art of Moving instructors have completed a training workshop with John Argue and bring a variety of healthcare experiences to our Center.
The cost is $5.00 per class, payable by class or by session.
