Dr. Caples is actively involved in providing care to patients with spinal cord injury, as well as patients adjusting to traumatic brain injury, stroke, brain tumor, and other neurological conditions. Dr. Caples' clinical interests include the psychosocial adjustment to illness and injury, patient and family education, sexuality and disability, and family and spouse concerns. She supervises postdoctoral residents in clinical neuropsychology and facilitates program development for residency training. She has co-authored several papers on topics related to the care of patients with neurological conditions.
Dr. Caples earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Arizona State University in Tempe. She has been awarded the Ronald McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Fellowship and the Minority Participation in Graduate Education Fellowship funded by the U.S. Department of Education. She completed an APA-accredited internship at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, Seattle Division, in Seattle, WA. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Rehabilitation Psychology at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle and then went on to complete a postdoctoral residency in Neuropsychology at Barrow Neurological Institute.
