Barrow's rehabilitation services for spinal cord injury encompass the following:

  • Inpatient services
  • Outpatient services
  • Spinal Cord Injury Wellness Program
  • Community events

A case manager or social worker is assigned to act as a liaison to patients, families, support groups and funding sources. Barrow inpatient rehabilitation offers the following services:

  • Spinal cord injury education classes
  • Unlimited patient and family use of the Barrow spinal cord injury library
  • Access to assisted technology including adapted computers and voice-activated telephones
  • Access to the Spinal Cord Injury Wellness Program
  • Participation in spinal cord injury empowerment classes sponsored by the Governor's Council on Spine & Head Injury, Arizona Spinal Cord Injury Association, and Barrow Rehabilitation Services-sponsored events

 

Spinal Cord Injury Wellness Program - Outpatient Rehabilitation Services

The Barrow Spinal Cord Injury Wellness Program offers comprehensive follow-up services to those with spinal cord injury and other related disabilities throughout all stages of life. Our goal is to promote wellness through medical management, functional follow-up, health maintenance visits, prevention of secondary disability, psychosocial support, education, and diverse community participation.

  • functional assessments
  • spasticity management
  • exercise programs
  • seating and positioning evaluations
  • adaptive equipment recommendations
  • pain management
  • mobility training
  • management of secondary disabilities
  • sexuality and fertility resources
  • skin integrity management
  • self-care assessment
  • home management skills yraining
  • community living resources
  • driving help and vehicle recommendations
  • assessment for home modifications
  • leisure and recreation resources
