Community Education, Outreach and Prevention


 

The mission of Barrow's Prevention Department is to provide a wide range of programs to educate community leaders, public policy makers, and individuals of all ages on how to prevent brain, spinal cord, and other traumatic injuries.

Fall Prevention

The Fall Prevention Program offers an informative presentation designed to reduce the incidence of falls by increasing knowledge about and awareness of the causes and risk factors related to falls, especially in the older adult population.



 

Helmet Your Head

Helmet Your Head is a safety program that advocates the use of helmets during recreational activities to help prevent brain injury.



Oliver Otter Safety Program  

The Oliver Otter safety program teaches children and adults the importance of following water-safety rules.



Stroke Prevention Program

The Stroke Prevention Program offers informative presentations and educational materials for adults to increase awareness of the causes, signs, and symptoms of stroke.


 

 


ThinkFirst Arizona

Barrow Neurological Institute sponsors ThinkFirst Arizona, a local chapter of the National Injury Prevention Foundation. ThinkFirst is a comprehensive national brain and spinal cord injury prevention program. Barrow has been designated as the Arizona training center for this program.
