(Phoenix AZ, Oct. 31, 2012) – A Phoenix man has been selected from thousands of patients around the world to tell his amazing medical story on a new website, Barrow50.org.
In 2011, just three weeks after undergoing quintuple bypass surgery following a heart attack, Fertiss Overton was treated at Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center after doctors detected a deadly brain aneurysm. Overton underwent complex surgery at Barrow to treat the very rare and dangerous condition and has made a recovery that even doctors have called “remarkable.” Barrow has treated more brain aneurysms than anywhere in the world.
St. Joseph’s Barrow Neurological Institute is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2012. Patients like Overton travel from all over the United States and the world for the special neurological expertise available at Barrow. The new interactive website is part of Barrow’s commemorative activities this year. Overton is one of only 50 special patients chosen to be interviewed for the website.
“Barrow is known worldwide as a premier neurological center,” says Overton. “I was able to witness first-hand what medical care is about and I had the very best care possible.”
